V okviru 31. Primorskega poletnega festivala bomo v petek, 12. julija 2024, gostili balet Grk Zorba v izvedbi SNG Maribor. 

Balet Grk Zorba je nastal po motivih romana Življenje in nravi Aleksisa Zorbe Nikosa Kazantzakisa. Skladatelj Mikis Theodorakis, eden največjih ambasadorjev grške glasbe v svetu, je glasbo najprej napisal za film, uspešnico, ki je kandidirala za kar sedem oskarjev. Skupaj s koreografom in režiserjem Lorco Massinom sta balet postavila poleti 1988 na festivalu v Areni v Veroni. Uspeh je bil izjemen, do danes pa si ga je v več različicah ogledalo več kot dva milijona ljudi po vsem svetu. Znameniti ples sirtaki, ki je na način, kot ga poznamo danes, nastal prav v filmu, pa velja še danes za najbolj znan grški ples. 

V  SNG Maribor so balet prvič izvedli aprila 2004, poleti pa bo v okviru Primorskega poletnega festivala nastopili tudi v Portorožu. Po dvajsetih letih so ga aprila letos postavili v novi zasedbi, izjema je Sergiu Moga, in osvežili sceno in kostume.
